this was a scultpure the kid made in the sand while on the phone
my first trip to the beach this season was on friday. and then again on saturday. i am so thankful to lindsay for bringing an umbrella - i was so fried after the first day, i would not have survived a second day at the beach without it! it was a lot of fun!

giving the houseplants some love

i transferred the massive aloe into a bigger pot [this is one of those big big ones, i flipped it over and used it as a table last year]. i am not feeling confident that it will make it, so i took a pic in case it dies and i want to remember it.

the plants in the kitchen desperately needed attention and today they felt the love. this pic is just some of them, trimmed down and resting while their shelves and sills were cleaned.

saving space with games

we went through the board games in an effort to save some space. most of the games are just packaging and you end up storing only air. the first pic is most of our games piled on the floor - the first step to see what we were working with. the second pic is only part of the pile of trash we had left over. we managed to throw out about 13 boxes.

some games were combined (three scene it games into one box, five trivia pursuit games fit into two boxes), while others were just loaded into a plastic bag. since we have about 40 games, we still have them stacked in various locations, but we have made some extra space (for more games, presumably).
