i am doing this in order to merge this blog with the other (now all posts together!).

beginning today, the new site will be regularly updated. but the new page is still a work in progress regarding colors, format, etc. it should be exciting for a while.

ah, sunshine

the sunshine makes me think of spring, i am dying to plant flowers! in other news, for those who don't know yet, we are moving. granted, we are only moving about a mile away, but we are "moving on up." the new place is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath. with central air.

there were nine firetrucks blocking my street tonight

there was a fire in my building tonight. we were woken up at about two after there was a large fire in the laundry room, right below us. we spent a couple of hours outside while firemen put out the fire downstairs, evacuated four of the apartments (including ours which included breaking down my door). apparently the fire below went into the walls which caused them to have to trample in and out of my apartment for a while. the apartment next door got it worse than us. we're back in the house now (obviously). my eyes are burning out of my head and the taste of smoke is thick. all of us will be smelling of smoke for weeks, i'm sure.

update ten minutes later: look, we've already made the news. funny that the article states firemen "stayed on the scene for a few more hours to check for any hot spots." funny cause they are still here. they are still sawing through walls in the building. and the four remaining trucks are lighting my bedroom up like a christmas tree. for some reason, through the sounds, lights, and terrible smell, eric still manages to sleep.

the last one is a bonus from sunday. there wasn't a whole lot that turned out alright from this year's crop. i'm going to move to see if i can get the pics from the phone next. maybe someone else had some decent ones they can share as well (hint, hint howard).
update: i had no luck getting pics from the camera. the phone came with a USB connector, but it only charges, does not allow for transfer. when i send via a pix message, it shrinks it down so much the quality is awful. oh well. there is one i will share, though, in the next post.

the year is almost over! but the brighter side, of course, is that christmas is coming.

this just may be the storm of the century. it is rough, for sure. my bedroom ceiling is leaking, too, and it feels as if the house will blow away completely. 55 mph winds for the last couple of days. 8 foot tidal floods. here's a few of my pics, we took a bunch during a break in the rain. of course, there is not supposed to be water in any of these places...
