what have you been up to lately?

all kinds of stuff really. little of this, little of that. the birthday last weekend was nice. we had a nice dinner, saw a few friends, and still had time for a trip to the beach. not bad. except the girl went to water country!

yesterday, i read this book, which stirred up all kinds of ethical issues in research. today, i am moving away from public sex, and onto the political history of criminal justice. not that the topic is any lighter.

this week [and next], the girl is participating in 'junior university' where she goes to school each day for a summer program, and gets to learn new and cool stuff. this means for me, however, that i walk to the middle school twice a day. and you know i love the walks [until it gets too hot, but at 8 AM it is nice]. snapped this pic this morning with the phone. it looked better in real life.
